Not only is Westover Hills an excellent location in and of itself, but it is part of the country's eighth largest city, San Antonio. It is the second fastest growing city among those with populations of more than one million. San Antonio offers a plethora of cultural, educational and recreational resources and a dynamic business environment. The economy is based on a mix of manufacturing, business services, health care, communication, corporate and regional government, and the convention/tourism industry. Big businesses and corporations such as Microsoft, CITI and QVC also make their home in San Antonio. Historically, San Antonio has long been an urban center, which affects the architecture and layout.
San Antonio is visited by 20 million tourists per year, many who are drawn in by its famous River Walk, the Alamo and Tejano culture. Many also come for Sea World San Antonio and Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme parks. The Mario Koogler McNay Art Museum, which is the first modern art museum of Texas, is located in San Antonio. And of course the city is famous for being home to the most successful national basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs.
The historic Alamo district offers much for residents and tourists alike to explore. Attractions, such as the river walk, host many festivities throughout the year including NIOSA (Night In Old San Antonio) which celebrates Fiesta, Cinco de Mayo, and numerous parades such as celebrations for the Spurs, Christmas parades and much more.
